FGS successfully convened 2019 Annual Academic Conference

 

To enhance academic exchanges on geographical sciences, FGS convened 2019 Annual Academic Conference on Dec. 28, 2019 in BNU Jingshi Hall. More than 360 professors and experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University, Ministry of Natural Resources, and China Academy of Safety Science and Technology attended the conference.

This conference consisted plenary keynote reports, parallel thematic reports as well as posters.

The plenary session was chaired by Executive Dean, Professor SONG Changqing. Dean of FGS, Professor FU Bojie, gave the commencement address. 

Four renowned academicians and professors delivered invited lectures. Academician Chen Fahu, the director of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), gave a lecture on History and Possible Mechanisms of Prehistoric Human Migration to the Tibetan Plateau . Academician Yu Guirui, the researcher of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (CAS), made a report named Comprehensive Research on Carbon Fluxes in Terrestrial Ecosystems and Temporal-Spatial Pattern of Carbon Sink Function . Academician Zhu Yongguan,the researcher from the Institute of Urban Environment (CAS) gave a lecture on The Biogeochemical Cycle of Arsenic And Its Health Risks . And Professor Zhang Liqiang, the winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, from FGS, delivered a lecture on Temporal-Spatial Analysis on Human Health and Environments .

Seven parallel thematic reports were designated to provide an opportunity for sharing frontier achievements, respectively are Soil Erosion and its Ecological Effect, Hydrometeorological Process and Disaster Effect, Man-Land System Coupling and Landscape Sustainability, Theoretical Basis and Key Technologies of National Spatial Planning, Remote Sensing Mechanism as well as Coordination and Monitoring of Multi-source Remote Sensing and Comprehensive Analysis on Geographic Information, Advanced Remote Sensing Products-Methods, Verification, and Analysis. Besides, two young scientists’ sessions on Ecological System and Hydrometeorological Process, Urban and Regional Sustainable Development were specifically set for graduate students.

This conference witnessed ninety-four lectures included fifteen invited lectures gave by experts from other institutions, fifty lectures from FGS faculty members and twenty-nine reports  from FGS Graduate students. Lecturers and attendees made full discussions after the conference which greatly enhanced interchanges and communications on and between correlative subjects.
